(Below is a list of questions that help me think about each verse as I read it. The numbers represent the verses in the chapter.)
1-31. How many movies, television programs, or news
reports are there that have war as a topic or theme? How is war glorified in
today's movies? Why do you think people sometimes glorify war? Can you see any
problems in war, especially glorifying war?
"Each nation is calling his people to come to the defense of the nation, because the war is forced upon us. It seems to have such right on its side that it is fighting for its life, for his country, it's God. But the real causes are not evident; however, you will discover that one cause of the disastrous war lies deeply rooted in the fact that those highly so-called Christian nations have never applied the gospel of Jesus Christ." – David O McKay, Gospel Ideals, p. 271–72
24-25. What do you think Shiz would say if you could ask him
why he wanted to kill Coriantumr? Do you think Shiz felt he was justified in
seeking Coriantumr's life? Do you think Coriantumr would feel justified in
killing Shiz if he had the chance? What, then, do you think they would say is
the cause of the war between them? According to these verses what was the real
cause or reason for the wars and destruction among the Jaredite's?
