2 Nephi 14

(Below is a list of questions and quotes that help me think about each verse as I read it. The numbers represent the verses in the chapter.)

1. How important is the protection of the Lord to you? How deeply do you desire to return to him at the low times that you have wandered off the path?

"Being unfaithful and worshiping idols, Israel had symbolically left the Lord and married another.… However, those idols provide no protection and are destroyed in the day of the Lord. Then Israel realizes that what she put her trust in provides no help. [This verse] symbolically describes the humility of the daughters of Zion as they seek to become married again, or return to the Lord. That kind of humility results in their redemption and cleansing." – Book of Mormon Student Study Guide [2000], p. 47

2. How can you escape the judgments that befall the wicked? How does this help you to appreciate your blessings more? How does it help you prepare to stand in Zion?
3. In the last day who will be left to stand in Zion? What characteristics and qualities do the people of Zion exemplify?
4. How will the Lords people, the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, be purified in preparation for the establishment of God's kingdom in the last days? Why is it necessary for us to be purged?
5-6. What kinds of storms do you need protection from? How would living with the righteous in Zion help with all of life's storms? How grateful are you to the Lord for his protection? How often do you seek out his presents? Does the light of his gospel cause you to glory in his name? How does your testimony and your knowledge of God shelter you as the shade of a tree from the heat of the adversaries flames that seek to devour you?
